Ruud Gullit

Dutchman Ruud Gullitbegan his career in 1978 in his native country at Haarlem, then had spells at Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven. Gullit was awarded with the European Footballer of the year accolade after his final season at PSV in 1987. He was a versatile player who could play in defence or midfield. Gullit was then signed by Italian giants AC Milan for a then record £6m fee in 1987 and proved a great success in an exceptionally talented team. After spells at fellow Italian clubs, Gullit signed for Chelsea in the summer of 1995 on a free transfer. Gullit was voted Chelsea player of the season in his first season at Chelsea.
