Chelsea 2-0 Middlesbrough (FA Cup Final)
Date Played: May 1997

Chelsea took an early lead as Roberto Di Matteo received the ball and volleyed it into the back of the net from over thirty yards out, which broke a forty two year record of quickest ever goal scored in an FA Cup final. Middlesbrough’s star forward, Fabrizio Ravanelli limped off after twenty minutes which was a major blow for Borough. Chelsea continued to control the first period and was unfortunate not to be two goals to the better as another fine Di Matteo shot was well saved before the interval. With seven minutes of the match left another Chelsea striker flicked the ball over the Boro goal keeper to secure a fine 2-0 FA Cup final win for Chelsea and they won the elusive trophy.
