After dominating the first half, Leeds United came into the second half intent of a win. Allan Clarke beat off several tackles and sent Jones on a long run towards the goal. Jones evaded the tackles of McCreadie and John Dempsey and smashed the ball past Bonetti to make it 1-0 to Leeds. In a rough second period, Peter Osgood scored an incredible equalizer 78 minutes in to the match. After the game was all square after ninety minutes, Ian Hutchinson crossed the ball to David Webb who scored the winning goal for Chelsea in what proved to be a 2-1 victory.

The 1967 FA Cup final was decided in the first ever all London final. It was also the first Southern Final since Old Carthusians defeated the Old Etonians in the 1881 final. In 1881, the final was attended by 4,000 spectators at the Kennington Oval, however in 1967 the final was watched by over a staggering 100,000 people at Wembley Stadium and millions of people tuned in to watch Tottenham defeat the Blues by two goals to one. It was a match that Ron Harris broke the record of becoming the youngest ever player to captain a team in the FA cup final. He was 22 years old and 198 days as he led his Chelsea side out against Spurs. |
